Welcome to Bike Community,
To realize that beer and parties only get you headaches and a beer belly can be pretty painfull. You made the right choice....hmm....
Anyway, to get back on the bike is the a great idea and to be a member with Bike Community and not the Beer Community is the best of all.
On a more serious note,
We are at Bike Community are welcoming you as a new Member and would love to hear what type of biking you have done in the past, bikes you had or have and last but not least the new goals with your comeback.
Dennis :)
Hi Dennis i used to be into cross country way back in the mid 90's.
My bike of choice was the fantastic Kona Cinder Cone which in my opinion is probaly one of the best bikes ever made with the exception of the GT Zaskar.
Anyway my aims are to get fit and to hopefully start racing again
Hi Bean,
Besides riding your bike is there any fitness training you would recommend doing to get back in shape for racing. People have different opinions about fitness training and it is always interesting to see what other cyclists do.
For my cardio I'm on a spinning bike. It fills in for the days I can’t get out riding. For some upper body conditioning I use free weights, Swiss ball and a chinn-up bar. The fitness training helps me to prevent muscle imbalances created by cycling.

Sorry for my leave of absence. Sometimes life just gets to busy and with two kids sacrifices have to be made. The bikes of your choice are the same light weight hardtail design of the bike I am currently riding. Except that mine is a department store special made by Dunlop. Like I said, sacrifices...
The bike worked fine for now but it is nothing to be proud of.
Considering that every one in my group owns $2000- $3000 dollar bikes and they never had to wait for me I'm not doing to bad. When the downhill gets rough I start feeling every cent my bike didn't cost.
I am definitely in the market for a new bike.
The bike of my choice today would be the Element or Slayer by Rocky Mountain but looking at the price I know it won't be anytime soon.
When it comes to staying fit for cycling there must be hundreds of ways. But everyone is differrent therefore what works for you maybe doesn't work for the next person. To share tips and tricks about this subject is a great idea and should not be withheld by anyone ( do you hear me Lance):)
Just cycle

I never really got it together with bikes and roads, but was great on the canal towpaths of dear lil ole England.
Am now in China, the drivers are terrible but slow, this country is full of bikes, buT THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO CYCLE FOR FUN ARE RICH KIDS WITH 21 -24 GEARS.
And many of them don`t know why they should change gear on a HILL...
